Here is my story. That sounds very vain, but I suppose, if you were a blog reader, you might want to know the author, to get a feel for where they are coming from before you spend time with them.

Most importantly, I am a Christian. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ and God has begun the work of conforming me to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. I want to glorify my Lord in all I do, but I don’t. I have many faults and am far from perfect.

I am married to the love of my life – for 25 years already! We have a large family with five boys and three girls to chase after. I am blessed!

We have decided to homeschool our children. I don’t think this is the only way to educate children, I just know it is what we are supposed to do. I enjoy teaching. Two of the children are working on their master’s degree, two are in college now, which leaves four in our homeschool.

Having homeschooled for 20 years gives me enough experience to know that there isn’t a fool-proof method that works for every child every time. I’m sorry if I burst your bubble, but you won’t find all the answers here. I hope you will find encouragement and a few ideas and principles to build on and tweak for your family whether you homeschool or not.

I am a farmer’s daughter at heart, from a small town. I like to get things done, and I like to do them right the first time. When we moved to Denver 11 years ago, I didn’t think I would survive in the city, but I can see God’s purpose in it, and I am content.

When the work is (almost) done, you will find me yard and garden, watching my boys wrestle or the girls play soccer, if my husband can get away, we will be in the mountains fishing, camping, or hunting.

I like to create things by cooking, baking, and sewing. I am a hometown sports fan. (You must solemly swear to be a fan before you get your Colorado driver’s license.) I don’t spend a lot of time watching professional sports. but I check the scores to find out how my teams are doing. I will make exceptions when the Colorado Rockies are in a penant race, until then baseball and the radio go well together.

I would like to be able to solve  the expert Soduko puzzles without making “educated guesses,” but I don’t think I will ever be that good.

I have a small,  home-based business as a representative for Total Language Plus, a literature-inspired language arts curriculum.

That is my story. I don’t have all the answers, but I have a connection with the One who does. This blog is really about Jesus Christ and His faithfulness and sufficiency to accomplish His purpose in a fatally flawed person like me.
