Christmas: More than a baby……..

December 24, 2011

But when the fullness of  the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law. Galatians 4:4

As we celebrate the coming of the Christ as a baby, let us also remember that this is just a part of story.

Jesus Christ, as God, is eternal and always existent. Christ “made himself of no reputation and took upon Him the form of a servant” (Philippians 2:7) when He was born of a virgin in that humble stable in Bethlehem, Judea. This is the miracle we celebrate this week, but……

He lived a sinless life and was completely human. He was in all points “tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)

He was crucified and died sacraficially that “whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

He was buried and resurrected 3 days later. (I Corinthians 15:4)

He ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9) and is now seated at the right hand of God. (Hebrews 12:2)

These verses give just a brief snapshot of His earthly life, but are in no way the complete story.

He “ever liveth to make intercession”  (Hebrews 7:25) for those who come to Him.

He will come again and take His children to himself forever! (John 14:3).

But we are still not at the end of this everlasting story…..

Because He will fulfill the promise of God to David, that one of David’s descendants would sit forever on the throne. He will “rule with a rod of iron” (Revelation 19:15) and He will judge the people of the earth. (Matthew 25:34)

His earthly reign will be characterized by righteousness and then we will enter a celestial city.

Yes, that is what I believe and invite you to believe with me.

In our celebration of the first advent, do not forget that He will come again “the day and hour knoweth no man.” (Mark 13:32) Be ready!

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Merry Christmas,  every one! Rejoice and remember Our Savior liveth and will come again!

Once I posted my comment, the YouTube video disappeared. 😦 Looked like a Santa video, but may have been inappropriate ~ women in bikinis sitting on lounge chairs around a pool.

However, when the fullness of His time had come, He stepped out of the shadows of obscurity and began to call a nation back to the truth of their identity Galatians 4 4†5 .
